Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if available) will be publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract such location data from images on the site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.

When visiting our login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.

Upon login, we set cookies to save your login credentials and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days, while screen options cookies last one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. It contains no personal data and only indicates the post ID of the article just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited that external site.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them in a moderation queue.

For registered users (if any), we store personal information provided in the user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for the username). Website administrators can also access and modify that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided.

You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This excludes any data we are obligated to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
